PARK WOOD, HELLINGLY

A pleasant walk of about 4 miles around the wood. May be muddy. Please bring a picnic lunch.

PAGHAM HARBOUR

A visit to the harbour looking at anything of interest, including Brent Geese later on in the day if we are lucky.

Below are a few of the birds that were spotted at this fantastic site about the same time last year. Hopefully we'll be as lucky !!!

SILVER HILL WALK

An Exploring East Sussex circular walk from Salehurst Church. About 4 miles taking about 2 hours. May be muddy. There will be a chance to stop for a drink / meal at The Salehurst Halt pub afterwards.

Saturday 6th March 2010 (11.00am)

BEDGEBURY PINETUM

A visit with a view to both walking around this magnificent site and spotting the beautiful birdlife. If we're really lucky, we could spot the elusive hawfinch or even a firecrest !!!

Either bring a picnic lunch or dine at the cafe on the site; please bear in mind that there may be a limited menu at this time of year.

PLEASE NOTE: There is a Car Parking Fee at the site of about £7.00 per car, so car-sharing is strongly suggested. Meet in the main car park.

HERSTMONCEUX WALK

A walk from Herstmonceux to Flowers Green of about 3 miles. There will be a chance to retire for a pub lunch afterwards !!!

CHAILEY COMMON SPRING WALK

A 5.5 mile walk at North Common, North Chailey. Gentle hills and, hopefully, a good variety of birdlife etc... May be slippery underfoot, so please wear appropriate footwear. Bring a picnic lunch.

COWBEECH BLUEBELL WALK

SANDWICH BAY OVERNIGHTER

A fantastic chance to stay overnight at the Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory, hoping to see returning migrant birds and maybe an unusual species passing by. Spaces are limited and the accommodation costs £10 per person.

NIGHTINGALES

An evening wander to hear the wonderful song of Nightingales. Location not yet decided but probably at Abbotts Wood or Lullington Heath.

BATS & MOTHS EVENING

A National Moth Night Event looking for bats and setting up several moth traps at Powdermill Wood near Battle. Sorry no dogs allowed to this event !!!

Come back the next morning at 8.00am to see the results if you are able to !!!

Saturday 5th June 2010 (6.00pm)

OLD LODGE - ASHDOWN FOREST

An evening walk and later on listening for the extraordinary sound of Nightjars "churring". Bring an "evening" picnic and bug spray and a hat are strongly recommended. Exact meeting place to be decided (depends on where the nightjars are), so contact a couple of days before the event.

Saturday 19th June 2010 (11.00am)

WILD FLOWERS ON MOUNT CABURN

A wonderful walk up Mount Caburn near Glynde, searching out the beautiful varieties of wild flowers. Bring a picnic and admire the views (last year we sat watching a pair of peregrines swooping this way and that whilst we were eating our lunch).
